Above is the link for the Rivers of Hope Foundation -if you live in the San Diego area - ways to get involved. There is a 5K walk/Run on June 16. There is a link under get involved for volunteers to sign up to help out the foundation from time to time. Also information to area organizations they partner with that work with children in foster care. It was started by Philip Rivers (QB San Diego Chargers) and his wife Tiffany. He also has a connection to North Carolina - he was a QB for NC State University in Raleigh, NC for 4 years.

Below is part of a news letter they sent out.

The Rivers of Hope Foundation enters the new year with great hope and energy as well as thanksgiving. We look to this year as one of promise and faith; a year dedicated to giving back and helping the plight of children. The Rivers of Hope Foundation is excited to report continued support to area agencies and charities. We thank you for taking time to read our newsletter, and thank you again for all of your support and help this past year.

As of this year, the Foundation has committed over $1,000,000 to our mission of helping and giving hope to children who need to find permanent loving homes. We have contributed to organizations whose focuses vary from kids aging out of the system to newborns with no homes. The Rivers Of Hope Foundation is proud and honored to support the following groups in the year 2012: Just In Time, HomeStart, Voices For Children, Promies2Kids, Pregnancy Solutions, Angels Foster Network, Whispering Winds, Heart Gallery, KFMB's Adopt 8, and San Pasqual Academy.

We are continually in awe of the help and dedication we have witnessed from these organizations and would like to fill you in on what these organizations do.

Just in Time provides transitioning foster youth with opportunities for self-sufficiency through emergency support, essential resources, and caring personal guidance at critical junctures on their path to independence. This year they will initiate the Rivers of Hope Young Men's program to mentor foster boys entering manhood and independence.

HomeStart is committed to a community-based collaborative effort reaching out to children and families at risk and preventing child abuse and neglect. They provide housing to single mothers with children who have nowhere to go but who are actively pursuing a career.

Voices For Children: Transforms the lives of abused children in San Diego County by providing them with volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). We have seen firsthand how much the children love and value their CASA's invovlement in their life.

Promises2Kids: Founded as the Child Abuse Prevention Foundation, P2K is widely recognized as the local leader and a model for the nation in child abuse prevention solutions.Their mission is to break the cycle of child abuse through prevention, education, and advocacy.

Preganacy Solutions: Provide hope, help and healing to women in crisis pregnancies in the San Diego Community.

Angels: Angels Foster Family Network is a licensed foster family agency with a unique focus on prevention, based on the stable placement of abused infants and toddlers with nurturing families who promote healing and critical attachment, resulting in healthy growth and development.

Whispering Winds: Nestled in the Cuyamaca Mountains, about an hour drive from San Diego, Whispering Winds provides an environment for youth, individuals, couples, families and groups interested in building character and values. Whispering Winds is the location for Camp Connect, a camp to reunite siblings seperated in foster care.

San Pasqual Academy: The first-in-the-nation residential education campus designed specifically for foster teens. The Academy is located in Escondido, CA and provides foster teens with a stable, caring home, a quality, individualized education, and the skills needed for independent living.
The ROHF is also committed and dedicated to the Something Special Fund, Birthday Club, Camp Connect, and the Heart Gallery. We are the providers for these organizations and will continue to provide these services for the children in 2012.

The annual Rivers Of Hope Foundation 5K Fun Run and Walk is officially set for June 16. Don't forget to sign-up again for this years great event. This year see if you can beat Philip in the race for first place!

Football fans and players, the Rivers Of Hope Foundation ProCamp is well underway. Scheduled for June 23rd the sponsored Old Spice Football ProCamp is set. Spaces are limited so do not forget to register while there is still time.

KFMB San Diego, our local CBS Channel 8, is part of the Rivers Of Hope Foundation team. Together we promote children available for adoption through the weekly video series Adopt 8 and the Heart Gallery website that shows children that want to be adopted. Also, each month on the 17th, we are giving away signed memorabilia to one local winner who enters into the sweepstakes. This month we are giving away a one of a kind 2011 signed ProBowl jersey. DO NOT miss this chance to win; all proceeds benefit the Rivers Of Hope Foundaiton and 100% of all proceeds are given away to children in need.

If you are not a lucky winner on the monthly Channel 8 sweepstake, check out our Rivers Of Hope Foundation ProShop and purchase your own unique memorabilia. All items have been personally signed and chosen by Philip.

And now a message from Philip and Tiffany: "We thank you for all of your continued support and encouragement. We enter into 2012 with great determination and enthusiasm. We are honored the San Diego community has joined us to help the plight of children in need."
